Cover Reveal for SPIRITED!

Congratulations to "Kristal H" the winner in Mary's giveaway. Thank you to all who participated!

Thank you Maureen and Just Paranormal Romance for hosting me today. I’m absolutely thrilled to do the cover reveal for my debut paranormal romance, SPIRITED (A Tidewater Novel). I’m absolutely in love with this cover and I hope everyone who sees is too.

Spirited is the first novel in the brand-new Tidewater Series.

What does a cop investigating a string of jewelry robberies have to do with a psychic florist and a mischievous ghost? Humor, suspense and a psychic love-connection!
Here’s a quick excerpt. This scene takes place right after Jules, our heroine returning home from a costume party quite literally stumbles into the bedroom window of her sexy new neighbor.

When Seth’s eyes focused, he pinched the bridge of his nose.

The hooker—she had to be a hooker—wore knee-high black patent leather stiletto boots, a black mini-skirt that could have doubled as a headband, and a leather bustier. Her legs were long and lean and covered in fishnet stockings.  And the swell of her breasts were in a word…succulent. Her short, straight midnight-colored hair was too dark to be real. The woman personified sex, as was her obvious intention. But her green eyes made his pulse thrum.

They were astonishing, as if emeralds were cut and layered around the pupils. The most beautiful eyes he’d ever seen, in spite of the appallingly thick black eyeliner surrounding them.

And strawberries? God, she smelled like strawberries. His mouth actually watered.

Attracted to a hooker. I’ve sunk so low.

Chalking it up to his sexual drought, he focused on dealing with the handcuffed home invader thrashing around on his bed. He tried to shove his sidearm into his shoulder holster before remembering he was shirtless. Stomping over to the bedside table, he yanked open the drawer, and dropped the gun in.

He hoped she’d think the heat creeping up his cheeks was from anger instead of embarrassment. Folding his arms across his chest, he asked, “Do you have any idea where you are?”

Jules sat dumbfounded in the bedroom of a Greek god. He had espresso brown eyes, curly black hair, a long nose that had probably been broken a time or two, and a sexy, dimpled chin. His tan, muscular body was covered by a chest full of springy hair that begged to be touched. Dang! He even smelled good, like soap and the salty Tidewater air.

Ohmigawd, he’s a walking condom commercial.

He scowled at her, waiting for an answer. Although to save her life she couldn’t think of anything. Where was she? More importantly, what was she doing here? Then a mental switch flipped and it all became clear.

That freaking ghost! Jules couldn’t very well tell a cop she stumbled into his apartment because a ghost made her do it.

SPIRITED (A Tidewater Novel) from Penguin Books comes out March 4, 2014 but is available for pre-order now.

    1. Ooh, that is interesting gift to want. Although, I'm not sure I'd want that ability if I couldn't shut it off. There are some things that I just don't want to know.

  6. I love this premise! Going to get it right away. Congratulations on what I'm sure is going to be a successful series (I love the title of your series, by the way). Love the cover. As for being psychic, I believe everyone is to one extent or another, they just have to learn how to draw it up to a level they are comfortable working with on a daily basis. I think the aspect of being able to touch the deepest part of another person, where all the blocks, hurt and pain reside, and then go deeper, to the soul level where the gifts and strengths that can shatter those blocks exist, and help the individual bring them forward.

    3. Hi Kathleen,

That's a pretty powerful gift in and of itself. To help people draw forward their own psychic abilities is a trait that I find extraordinary.

  9. Fabulous cover layout and really draws me into the story. Can't wait till it's available, and I'm preordering now! Congrats, Mary. The excerpt was hot! There are so many psychic abilities, but my 1st pick would have be to be Bilocation. I'd sure get a lot more done if I could be in more than one place at the same time. Dowsing would be a close second...because then I could find stuff (like my keys) that eludes discovery. Ha!

    2. I think all moms should come with the gift of biolocation and it should grow with each child we have! Heaven knows I've needed to be in multiple places at once between my two children and my own career. :)

  10. Gorgeous cover! All of the elements on the cover are appealing and definitely make me want to read it. And psychic ability?? Hmm....I'd need so many but I'll choose psychometry so that I'd be able to read objects by touch.

Can't wait for your debut and congratulations again on the beautiful cover!

    1. Yep, psychometry is definitely a cool talent. If you like it, wait until book 3 comes out. The heroine of that story is plagued (I mean GIFTED) with that ability. :)

  12. Yay Mary!! I love that cover!! I'd choose Psychokinesis - being able to manipulate/move objects with my mind. I'd never have to physically clean my house or do laundry again! Ha! Congratulations!! :)

    1. Misty,

I like your way of thinking! Psychokensis for housework. Man, if I had that ability, I could get loads more writing done in a day. :)

    1. Hi Alexis,

Yep, moving things with your mind would be a good power. Someone suggested doing it for housework. And man, that gift would save me a lot of time if I could do that. Hmmm...maybe I'd weed the garden with my mind too. :)

      Thanks for stopping by!

  16. Great cover, Mary!!! Congratulations! The story sounds like so much fun and I look forward to reading it. As for psychic powers, I think I would like to be able to read minds. It would take the guesswork out of so many situations if I knew what people were REALLY thinking. Of course, I might not particularly like what people are thinking so it could be a double-edged sword. :)

    1. Thanks Maura. And you're right. I'm a firm believer in never ask a question unless you're absolutely certain you want the question. But mind reading, wow, you never have to ask, just wonder and then you know.

A powerful ability to have, indeed. :)

  18. Great cover, Mary. I can't wait for the release.
As for psychic ability, I think I'd like to be psychokinetic. That way I could use my power to cook, clean, and do all of those necessary things while I was doing something fun, like reading and writing.
